This is a classic gunmetal fired plate by Santana and Adam Martinez.  Adam was the youngest son of Maria Martinez, and Santana (his wife) painted Maria’s pottery in the 1940-50s.  The front of this plate is fully polished.  The feather design was then painted on the front.  The feathers are tightly painted.  The plate was fired to a silvery gunmetal coloration.  It is signed on the back in the clay, “Santana + Adam”. It is in very good condition with no chips, cracks, restoration, or repair.
