2.75"w x 5"h

$ 2,000.00

Grace Medicine Flower began her career making miniature pottery with incised designs.  This long-neck jar is from 1988.  It is a transitional piece that combines carving and sgraffito areas of design.   The jar is deeply carved with an avanyu encircling the piece.  There are two medallions that are part of the carved design that are incised.  One has 21 carved feathers and etched butterflies in the center.  The other medallion has flowers and butterflies.  Note the detail on the flowers!  The piece was traditionally fired red.  Grace always had an eye on the complete composition of a piece and made sure it was not just aesthetically pleasing but also technically precise.  The jar is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, restoration or repair.  It is signed on the bottom in the clay, “Grace Medicine Flower”.   It is a classic piece of her pottery history!
