John Montoya was one of the few potters from Sandia Pueblo. It is one of the smaller pueblos in New Mexico.  This bowl is painted with black, white, and red clay slips.  The inside is red and the exterior has cloud, rain, and feather designs.  It is a striking and complicated design.  It is signed on the bottom, “John Montoya”.  It is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, restoration, or repair.
