Moquino, Corn – Bowl with Birds and Plants (1980s)
This bowl by Corn Moquino is a traditional shape with a fully polished rim and base. There are black-and-sienna birds and plants surrounding the piece. The background area is incised with vertical lines. There are smaller sienna Zia plant designs as well. Interestingly, Corn was both Zia and Santa Clara, but it is not often I’ve seen Zia designs on his pottery. The jar is signed on the bottom in the clay, “Corn Moquino”. It is in very good condition with no chips, cracks, restoration, or repair.
