Naha, Helen “Featherwoman” – Jar with Shooting Star and Cloud Designs (1990s)

4.25"w x 4"h

$ 800.00

This is a complex painted jar by “Feather Woman” Naha.  She was known for her traditional white-ware pottery.  This jar is from the early 1990s. The jar is slipped white and fully polished on the inside and outside. The jar has a shooting star design on the rim, then triangular mountains.  Around the center of the jar are swirling clouds.  Note the number of different clay slips used on the jar.  There are three different colors.  It was only in the late 1980s and early 1990s that Helen began to use more clay colors on her pottery.  The jar is tightly painted and traditionally fired so there are slight color variations from the firing.  It is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, restoration, or repair.  It is signed on the bottom with her hallmark feather.
