This is a very unusual long neck water jar by Helen “Featherwoman” Naha. The jar has a round shoulder and an elongated neck. What is so unusual is that is made from red Hopi clay! It is one of the very few pieces Helen made from red clay. The jar is painted with bee-weed and then the designs are outlined with white clay. The piece has spiraling bird wings as the design. The painting is precise and flowing. Simply elegant and the white outlines are perfect to accentuate the design. It is a classic balance of form and design. The jar is signed on the bottom with a feather, which was Helen’s hallmark. The jar is in vyer good condition with no chips, cracks, restoration or repair.
