Naha, Nona – Canteen with Katsina (1990s)

4.5"w x 5"h x 2.5" deep

$ 500.00

Nona Naha was Tewa-Hopi of the Corn Clan who began making pottery in 1988. She was the daughter of Sylvan and Edith Nash and the wife of Terry Naha. She learned to make pottery from Helen Naha and her daughters Sylvia and Rainy Naha.  This is one of the few canteens I have seen of her work. It is thin-walled and has a katsina in the center as the design.  The katsina has white and deep red clay slips.  Check out the little handles It is signed on the bottom, “Nona Naha”.  It is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, restoration, or repair.
