Naha, Nona – Small Seedpot with Bat Wing Designs (1990s)

2"w x 1.75"h

$ 175.00

Nona Naha was Tewa-Hopi of the Corn Clan who began making pottery in 1988. She was the daughter of Sylvan and Edith Nash and the wife of Terry Naha. She learned to make pottery from Helen Naha and her daughters Sylvia and Rainy Naha.  This small seedpot is thin-walled and fully polished. The top is slipped red.  Looking down from the top you can see a TINY hole for the seedpot.  Nona would make the entire piece hollow, then use a pin to create the opening!  The piece is painted on the sides with four “bat wing” designs.  Note the thin lines used to paint the imagery.  The seedpot was traditionally fired.  It is signed on the bottom, “Nona Naha”.  It is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, restoration, or repair.
