Naha, Nona – Wide Bowl with Moth Design (1998)

7.5"w x 2"h

$ 775.00

Nona Naha was a Tewa-Hopi of the Corn Clan who began making pottery in 1988. She was the daughter of Sylvan and Edith Nash and the wife of Terry Naha. She learned to make pottery from Helen Naha and her daughters Sylvia and Rainy Naha.  This is a larger piece of her pottery with a wide shape and flat top.  Typical of her work, it is so thin-walled it almost feels as if it is made of paper! The piece is fully polished on the entire surface.  The top has a classic moth design with additional cloud, rain, and star patterns.  The edge of the bowl has an eternity band. The designs are painted with bee-weed and highlighted with burgundy clay.  The bowl was traditionally fired.  It is signed on the bottom, “Nona Naha”.  It is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, restoration, or repair.
