Nahohai, Randy – Open Bowl with Water Bug and Dragonflies (1992)

8"w x 3"h

$ 275.00

This is a traditional open bowl by Randy Nahohai.  He was known for his innovative Zuni pottery.  This bowl is coil-built from red Zuni clay and painted with a black clay slip. The clay used to paint the designs has just a bit of mica and you can see the sparkle in the photos.  The interior of the bowl has a water bug in the center.  Is is surrounded by four dragonflies.  There are additional cloud designs.  The exterior is polished red and there is a corrugated ridge.  There is subtlety to the texture and shape of the piece.  It is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, restoration or repair.  It is signed on the bottom, “R. Nahohai ’92”.
