Les Namingha has, over the years, creatively changed his pottery with new painting and technical styles. This jar has a round shape and sloping sides. The jar is entitled, “Four” with colors representing the four directions on the top and throughout the piece. The top has a star pattern radiating out to the black-and-white oval shapes. There are sloping bands of geometric Hopi-Tewa designs and small pointilism shards. The shoulder has an additional rainbow pattern and near the base is a textural band. What you can’t see is that all the larger brownish sections are smooth and sanded to a burnished feel! It’s a great piece to hold. The jar is signed on the bottom, “Les Namingha”.
