10.5"w x 5.75"h

$ 3,200.00

Les Namingha is one of those potters who continues to defy expectations in his innovative clay art.  This jar brings back the traditional Hopi-Tewa designs and firing to his pottery.  The jar has a high, wide shoulder and a very short neck.  Around the shoulder are painted two birds.  Each bird is very intricately painted with various Hopi designs.  Note as well there are sections his multi-color “pointilism” birds.  The wings on each bird extend down below the shoulder. The red slip areas are polished and there is just a bit of mica in the slip to create a reflection.  The traditional firing of the jar has created beautiful blushes on the surface.  The jar is signed on the bottom.
