Les Namingha is one of those potters who continues to defy expectations in his innovative clay art.  This open bowl combines some of the best of his work on canvas with that in clay.  Having such an open field of design is perfect on the piece. The back is painted with a bold geometric pattern.  The front is a stunning combination of Sikyatki inspired designs along with pointilism dots.  The intricacy of the design as one looks closer is striking and there are some great areas (the deep red) that are painted with a very strong stroke of the brush.  Les pulls from his artistic background as well as his Zuni and Hopi heritage.  The plate is signed on the back.
