Les Namingha has, over the years, creatively changed his pottery with new painting and technical styles. This is a classic Hopi shape with a wide shoulder and a nearly flat top. The piece is entitled, “Tapestry”. The top of the jar is not just a variety of Hopi-Tewa designs, but there is also a textural element to areas on the piece. The “tapestry” brings together Katinsa, sun, rain, corn, plant, and geometric patterns. There are also a variety of small designs that harken back to earlier styles by Les. The jar feels like it is a reflection of both his life and his art. The bottom has a textural feel with thick paint and swirling migration-style designs that complement the top of the jar. The jar is signed on the bottom, “Les Namingha”.
