Lawrence Namoki has been known for a variety of styles in his pottery.  This is one of his classic pieces from the 1990s.  It is a jar which is both carved and painted.  The jar is entitled, “Anasazi”.  There are four deeply carved sections near the neck, which hare patined colors of the four directions.  Below are four different petroglyph designs painted on the clay.  Each is a different scene.  The background on the jar is painted so that it looks like wood. The piece is signed on the bottom in the clay, “Lawrence Namoki”.  It is in very good condition with no chips, cracks, restoration, or repair.
