$ 900.00

Lawrence Namoki was known for the variety of styles of his pottery. While he began with deeply carved pottery, he ended his career by creating delicately painted vessels.  This piece is entitled “Travelers”.  It is part of a series he made around 2012 about traditional Hopi stories. The jar has a Mudhead on one side and a Cloud Katsina on the other.  As the jar is turned, there are corn plants, sun design, Prayer Feathers, and two different styles of Flute players.  The jar is painted black and then painted with various colors of clay to create the design.  The neck is the natural color of the clay and has the appearance of wood.  The jar is signed on the bottom, “Lawrence Namoki”.  It is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, restoration or repair.
