Nampeyo, Bonnie – Bowl with Migration Pattern

4"w x 3.25"h

$ 300.00

This is a classic bowl by Bonnie Sahmie Chapella Nampeyo.  She is a daughter of Priscilla Nampeyo and a sister of noted potters Jean Sahmie, Rachel Sahmie, and Nyla Sahmie.  She began making pottery in 1975.  This bowl is coil-built and painted with bee weed and a red clay slip.  This piece has the classic migration pattern, which swirls down from the rim to the base.  It is a design that matches the shape.  It was traditionally fired, so it has blushes across the surface.  It is signed on the bottom “Bonnie Nampeyo”.  It is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, restoration or repair.
