Nampeyo, Ellsworth Polacca – Bowl with Sunface and Flute Player (1978)

2.25"w x 2"h

$ 200.00

Ellsworth Polacca Nampeyo was a son of noted potter Fannie Nampeyo and a grandson of Nampeyo of Hano. He was a brother of Elva Nampeyo, Leah Nampeyo, Tonita Nampeyo, Harold Polacca, Thomas Polacca, and Iris Nampeyo. He began making pottery in the late 1970s and continued through the 1980s. This small bowl is fully polished red.  It is designed with a flute player on one side and a sunface on the other.  The top has a star pattern.  Surrounding the flute player are cloud and rain designs.  It is signed on the bottom in the clay, “Ellsworth Polacca Nampeyo”.  It is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, restoration, or repair.  He was not very prolific so we do not see a lot of his pieces of pottery come back to the gallery.
