Nampeyo, Loren Hamilton – Jar with Flute Player and Longhair Katsina

5.5"w x 5"h

$ 600.00

Loren Hamilton is a son of noted potter Tonita Nampeyo and a grandson of Fannie Nampeyo.  This jar is carved with a longhair katsina on one side, corn plants, a village scene with a kiva, and a flute player. The designs are carved into the clay and then painted with clay slips.  The inside rim of the jar is also fully polished red.  The recessed area around the carved designs is etched with linear patterns. The remainder of the jar is polished tan.  The jar was traditionally fired and it is signed on the bottom in the clay, “Loren H Nampeyo”.  It is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, restoration or repair.
