Nyla Sahmie Nampeyo is a daughter of Priscilla Nampeyo and a sister of Bonnie Nampeyo, Rachel Sahmie, Randy Sahmie, Jean Sahmie, and Andrew Sahmie.  She is a great-great-granddaughter of Annie Healing and a great-great-great-granddaughter of Nampeyo of Hano.  This large open bowl is coil-built and made from native clay. The bowl is painted with bee-weed (a plant) and highlighted with a red clay slip.  The outside of the bowl has feather and cloud designs. The interior is tightly painted with a large Hopi bird, a bird tail, and a red cloud design.  It is a complex and traditional Hopi-Tewa design. It was traditionally fired so it has slight blushes across the surface.  It is signed on the bottom “Nyla” and a corn plant for Corn Clan.
