$ 750.00

Priscilla Namingha Nampeyo was a great-granddaughter of Nampeyo of Hano and granddaughter of Annie Healing.  She was also a sister of Dextra Quotskuyva Nampeyo. Priscilla was the matriarch of a family of renowned potters, including Rachel, Bonnie, Nyla, and Jean Sahmie.  Priscilla began making pottery when she was only seven years old, under the guidance of Nampeyo of Hano. This is an unusual jar with handles. They are slipped with red clay.  The jar has five rows of cloud designs that encircling the piece. The visual appearance is almost as if the piece is a basket!  The jar was traditionally fired so it has blushes across the surface.  It is signed on the bottom “Priscilla Namingha Nampeyo”.  It is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, restoration, or repair.
