Flora Naranjo began making pottery in the 1930s and was amazingly creative in form and design. It is not often that we see her pottery alone, as in the 1980s, she began to collaborate with her daughter Glenda Naranjo (b. 1953). This is one of her few plates. It is deeply carved with 12 feathers. Note the depth of the carving. The remainder of the piece is highly polished. It was fired a deep black coloration. The plate is in very good condition with no chips, cracks, restoration or repair. It is signed, “Flora Naranjo” on the bottom.
