Naranjo, Flora – Polychrome Jar with Clouds Designs (1960’s)

4.75"w x 4.5"h

$ 150.00

It is not often that we come across pottery by Flora Naranjo.  She began making pottery in the 1930s and was amazingly creative in form and designs.  This is a classic smaller storage jar shape with a round shoulder and short neck.  The jar is painted with various clay slips, which were all found around Santa Clara Pueblo.  The neck has a mountain design.  Around the shoulder are rain, cloud and prayer feather patterns.  One of her most unusual colors is the brownish/taupe coloration.  All the designs are outlined in white.  The jar is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, restoration or repair.  It is signed, “Flora” on the bottom in the clay.  Shipping is included.
