Flora Naranjo began making pottery in the 1930s and was amazingly creative in form and design. It is not often that we see her pottery alone, as in the 1980s, she began to collaborate with her daughter Glenda Naranjo (b. 1953). This bowl is round in shape and carved with her classic avanyu. Note how it touches the top and bottom bands, creating a unique use of the negative space. It was fired a deep red coloration. The bowl is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, restoration or repair. It is signed, “Flora Naranjo” on the bottom.
