Joseph Naranjo began making pottery in 1967.  He is a grandson of Amelia Tafoya and a son of Eugene and Isabel Naranjo.  He is the brother of JoeAnn Naranjo and Jolene Nelson.  He learned to make pottery from his mother.  He is married to Eunice Naranjo.  This bowl is deeply carved with a water serpent as the design.  It swirls around the surface of the piece. The bowl is highly polished and traditionally fired black.  It is signed on the bottom, “Joseph G. Naranjo” and it is very good condition with no chips, cracks, restoration, or repair.
