Madeline Naranjo creates beautifully carved and polished pottery.  Each piece is pinch-built, carved, stone polished, and traditionally fired.  This is an exceptional piece by Madeline. The jar is tall and fully polished. There are six leaves carved into the clay.  Three of them are raised in relief, which gives them added dimension.  Each of the raised leaves is fully polished.  They are separated by carved leaves that are slipped with a mauve-colored clay, making them a very distinctive appearance.  The remainder of the jar is highly polished.  The piece was fired a deep red and the smoke added additional depth of color to the matte leaves.  Unique and creative!   Madeline’s matte areas are sanded and perfectly smooth so that there are no indentations or areas where the matte might make a shadow.  Her designs are always innovative and beautifully executed.  The jar is signed on the bottom, “Madeline Naranjo”.
