Rose Naranjo is the matriarch of one of the amazing families at Santa Clara Pueblo.  Descendants include Roxanne Swentzell, Jody Folwell, Susan Folwell, Johnathan Naranjo, Rose Simpson, Nora Naranjo-Morse, and many others!  It is not often that we come across her pottery. This piece is made from micaceous clay.  It is a pitcher with a spout and handle.  It is an elegant shape and is traditionally fired to create blushes on the surface.  Note how they are accented on the mouth and base of the piece!  It is signed on the bottom, “Rose”.  It is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, restoration, or repair.  It is a unique piece by this influential matriarch.
