Thomas Natseway is one of the most renowned miniaturists in Pueblo pottery. Rarely does he make a piece that is over 1″ tall or wide! This miniature is in the shape of a bird effigy. Many of these (in a larger size) were found throughout the Southwest from ancient times. The bird is painted with bee-weed and clay slips. Note the precision of the beak and the wings! It is signed on the bottom, “Thomas Nasteway”. It is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, restoration or repair.
