Natseway, Thomas – Mini Chaco Canyon Effigy Jar (1990s)

.75" long

$ 200.00

Thomas Natseway is one of the most renowned miniaturists in Pueblo pottery.  Rarely does he make a piece that is over 1″ tall or wide!  This miniature is in the shape of a bird effigy.  Many of these (in a larger size) were found throughout the Southwest from ancient times.  The black-and-white style and the form is inspired by the figurative pottery from Chaco Canyon.  It is painted with bee-weed. Note the precision of the face and the back!  It is signed on the bottom, “Thomas Nasteway”.   It is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, restoration or repair.
