12"w x 7"h

$ 1,600.00

Eunice “Fawn” Navasie was a daughter-in-law of Paqua Naha and a sister-in-law of Joy “Frogwoman” Navasie.  This is a large wide-shoulder jar is coil-built, slipped and polished white, and painted with bee-weed and red clay.  The jar has four tumbling hummingbirds as the design.  They are each larger in size.  The inside of the jar is also fully polished!  The jar was traditionally fired which created the blushes on the white surface.  This coloration of blushes on the white clay slip has been called “meringue”.  That seems accurate as in-person it does look like meringue on a desert!  Eunice was known for the great colorations from the firing.  The jar is signed on the bottom, “Fawn.  This was her signature in the 1960s.  It is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, restoration or repair.
