Fawn Garcia Navasie (b. 1959) is also known as “Little Fawn”. She is a daughter of Eunice “Fawn” Navasie and a sister of Dawn and Dolly Navasie. This jar is coil built and stone polished. The jar has a wide, round shoulder and a short neck with a slightly turned-out rim. It is a classic Hopi-Tewa shape. The jar has four panels of designs, with large swirling Sikyatki inspire birds. The birds are each painted with bee-weed (black) and a deep red clay slip. The jar was traditionally fired so there are blushes on the surface. It is signed on the bottom, “Little Fawn”, which is how she signed her pieces when her mother, Eunice “Fawn” Navasie (1920-1992) was alive. It is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, restoration, or repair.
