Navasie, Fawn Garcia – Jar with Eagle and Hummingbird Tail Designs (1990s)

7"w x 5"h

$ 500.00

Fawn Garcia Navasie (b. 1959) is also known as “Little Fawn”.  She is a daughter of Eunice “Fawn” Navasie and a sister of Dawn and Dolly Navasie.  This jar is coil-built and stone polished. The jar has a wide, round shoulder and a short neck.  It is painted with bee-weed (black) and highlighted with matte red areas.  The design is a series of two large eagle tail designs separated by two smaller hummingbird tails.  The jar was traditionally fired so there are blushes on the surface.  It is signed on the bottom, “Fawn” and a deer track, which is how she signed her pieces after her mother, Eunice “Fawn” Navasie (1920-1992) passed away.  It is in very good condition with no chips, cracks, restoration, or repair.
