Navasie, Marianne – Jar with Bird and Feather Designs (1990s)

6.25"w x 7.5"h

$ 500.00

Marianne Navasie was a daughter of Joy “Frog Woman” Navasie and a granddaughter of Paqua Naha.  This is a classic jar with a high shoulder and short neck.  It is fully polished white and then painted with bee-weed and red clay slip.  The jar has a series of stylized bird and bird wing designs in four panels around the piece.  Note how Marianne’s designs leave open space at the top and bottom.  It is in very good condition with no chips, cracks, restoration, or repair..   It is signed on the bottom with a frog hallmark and an M and a tadpole.
