Maynard Navasie (1945-2003) was a son of noted potter Joy “Frogwoman” Navasie.  He learned to make pottery from his mother.  This jar is coil built and painted with bee-weed (black) and a deep red clay slip. The jar has three panels of design, each with a different style of Hopi or Sikyatki bird. The jar was traditionally fired.  It is signed on the bottom with a Frog hallmark and his initials, “M. V.”.  It is in very good condition with no chips, cracks, restoration, or repair.
