4"w x 6.75"h

$ 200.00

Maynard Navasie (1945-2003) was a son of noted potter Joy “Frogwoman” Navasie.  He learned to make pottery from his mother.  Veronica (b. 1945) is a daughter of Laura Prestson.  They worked together on much of their pottery.  This jar is coil-built and painted with bee-weed (black) and a deep red clay slip. The jar has a round shoulder and an elongated neck.  There is a feather pattern around the neck.  Around the body of the piece is a swirling bird on each side. The jar was traditionally fired with a slight blush on the rim.  It is signed on the bottom with a Frog hallmark and his initials, “M.N & V.N.”.  It is in very good condition with no chips, cracks, restoration, or repair.
