Each bear paw has a kiva step pattern in the center. Christine was known for her brown fired pottery and delicately etched designs. The bowl is signed on the bottom.

Christine Nieto was a daughter of Lorraine Agnes Naranjo and a granddaughter of Benenta and Marcus Naranjo. She was a sister of Suzanne Naranjo, Frances Martinez , and Leslie Cruz. She had two children, Gabriel and Chester Gutierrez. Her sister Frances is married to Marvin Martinez of San Ildefonso Pueblo. Christine was known for her brown fired pottery. The designs were etched into the clay after the firing. She often worked with her partner Dale Gutierrez.
