Janice Ortiz is a sister of noted potter Virgil Ortiz and a daughter of Seferina Ortiz.  She is known for her amazing figurative pottery.  This piece is one of her classic Cochiti frogs. The frog has a large, open mouth with a dragonfly sitting on its tongue.  The back has a raincloud painted as the design.  It was traditionally fired.  The piece is signed on the bottom, “M. J. Ortiz”.
