Pacheco, William Andrew – Dinosaur Plate (2001)

7" dia.

$ 175.00

Andrew Pacheco is a nephew of noted potter Robert Tenorio.  He is known for his use of traditional techniques and materials but with non-traditional designs.  This is one of his pieces from 2001.  It is a plate that is coil-built and painted with bee-weed.  The design has one dinosaur on the front.  Note how the smoke from the firing gave the dinosaur ‘spots”!  The black coloration surrounds the dinosaur and the back is the natural color of the clay.  Andrew started out making traditional Kewa pottery but was interested in dinosaurs. They quickly became a theme on his pottery. It is a charming design on the jar.  It is signed on the back, “Will  P.”.   It is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, restoration, or repair.
