Patricio, Doris – Water Jar with Plant and Rain Designs (2000s)
5.5"w x 5.25"h
Doris Patricio was the matriarch of a family of exceptional potters, including Robert Patrico. Each piece is coil-built and painted with bee-weed (black) and clay slips. This is a classic Acoma-shaped water jar with a round shoulder and short neck. The jar is one of the more complicated designs we have seen of hers. Around the neck are plant designs. Around the body of the jar are plant and fine-line rain patterns. There is an elegant flow of lines and open space to create her imagery. It is signed “D. Patricio”. It is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, restoration, or repair.
Doris Patricio was married to Patrick Patricio. She was the mother of noted potter Robert Patricio. Her pottery was coil built using traditional clay, materials, and designs. Her pieces are signed, "D. Patricio".
