Kylie Patricio (b. 1999) is a daughter of noted potter Robert Patricio.  This jar is coil-built and thin-walled. It has a classic Acoma water jar shape and a high shoulder and short neck.  The jar is painted with bee-weed and clay slips.  The jar has “four seasons” of designs. There is a checkerboard band that represents snow (winter).  Below are lightning patterns for Summer.  Below that is a band of wind designs for Fall.  Finally, the body of the jar has large butterflies and flowers representing spring.  It is a complex and fluid design with a lot of detail and layers. The bottom is painted red.  The jar is a creative use of form and design.  The jar is signed, “K. Patricio”.  It is exciting to see such excellent work by young Acoma potters!
