This is a very tightly painted water jar by Robert Patricio. Robert is known for his classic forms and use of both traditional and pre-historic imagery. This piece is coil-built using traditional Acoma clay and thin-walled. It has a classic high shoulder with an elongated neck. Robert is amazing at painting thin-lines on his pottery! This jar combines two traditional fine-line elements. There are interlocking six point stars around the neck. The remainder of the then has interlocking four point and eight pointed stars. There are six rows of stars from top to bottom, each painted with very thin lines! It is exceptional, and the black and white coloration gives the jar a very modern appearance. Robert is one of the leading traditional Acoma potters working today, evidenced by his stunning forms and complementary designs. The jar is signed on the bottom, “R. M. Patricio”.

This jar combines two traditional fine-line elements. There are interlocking stars around the neck and base, and in the center are interlocking flowers. The flowers are the diamond shapes while the stars have eight points. Connecting the two designs on the jar is elegant and detailed! Note the precision of the lines! It is exceptional, and the black and white coloration gives the jar a very modern appearance.
