This bowl by Robert Patricio utilizes classic Acoma designs.  Robert is known for his classic forms and use of both traditional and pre-historic imagery.  This piece is coil-built using traditional Acoma clay and thin-walled. It has a classic round shape, and it is painted with the classic interlocking star pattern.  Eight-sided stars are interlocking with four-sided stars.  There are three rows of designs on this bowl.  It is one of the graphic designs most often associated with Acoma pottery.  It creates a beautiful flow across the surface of the vessel.  Note the precision of the lines!  It is exceptional, and the black and white coloration gives the jar a very modern appearance.  Robert is one of the leading traditional Acoma potters working today, evidenced by his stunning forms and complementary designs.  The jar is signed on the bottom, “R. M. Patricio”.
