Robert Patricio is known for his classic Acoma forms and use of both traditional and pre-historic imagery.  This is one of the largest pieces we have had from him.  It is a stunning jar with a round body and slight neck.  It is amazing what happens when an artist has more space to use for their painting!  This large jar has a cloud pattern around the neck.  Around the body of the piece is a complicated pattern with a “zig-zag” band of flower designs.  They are separated by rain, lightning and thunder designs.  Note the tightly painted fine-line patterns throughout the jar!  The inside of the rim and the base are both painted with a traditional red clay slip.  The jar is thin walled and perfectly constructed.  Robert is certainly one of the leading traditional Acoma potters working today which is evidenced by his stunning forms and complementary designs.
