This is a round-shoulder, thin-walled bowl by Robert Patricio.  It is a classic Acoma bowl shape.  It is painted with bee-weed on a white surface to create black-and-white coloration.  The bowl has spiraling rainbirds, each with a painted feather pattern.  Note as well the small hatchure areas with thin lines!  Robert has creatively used the white open spaces to accentuate the detail of his painted imagery.  It is signed on the bottom, “R.  M.  Patricio”.  This bowl is an exciting extension of his artistry in clay and continues the amazing Acoma legacy.

““The pottery inspires me to keep going.  Keeping the tradition alive in making pottery, that’s how we were brought up.  Our ancestors started making pottery.  It’s amazing what comes of a piece of clay.
