Robert Patricio is known for his classic forms and use of both traditional and pre-historic imagery.  This is a classic water jar with a high shoulder and elongated neck. The neck of the jar has fine-line interlocking stars.  They extend downward to the shoulder.  The jar has alternating red and brown deer.  Next to each deer is a plant design.  The heartline deer is a classic design in Acoma pottery with the heartline representing the heart, or spirit, of the deer.  The base of the jar is slipped red.  Robert is certainly one of the leading traditional Acoma potters working today which is evidenced by his stunning forms and complementary designs.  The jar is signed on the bottom, “R. M. Patricio”.
