Agnes Peynetsa (b. 1962) began making pottery in 1984.  She is the daughter of Charles and Wilma Peynetsa, wife of Berdel Soseech.  She is the sister of Priscilla Peynetsa and Anderson Peynetsa.  Agnes learned pottery-making from Jennie Laate and her brother and sister. This kiva bowl has angular step patterns on the four sections, representing the kivas where Pueblo ceremonies take place.  The bowl is made from red clay and the inside is red and the outside is slipped with white clay. The outside has tadpoles on each of the four corners.  On the inside, there are four frogs, each on one of the points of the kiva bowl.  In the center is another frog in relief, looking upward. The frogs are painted with white and black clay.  The piece is signed on the bottom in the clay, “Agnes Peynetsa”.  It is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, restoration, or repair.
