Peynetsa, Jamie – Large Jar with Bird Wings and Rain Birds

10.5"w x 9.5"h

$ 1,200.00

Jamie Peynetsa is the son of noted potters Anderson and Avelia Peynetsa.  Avelia, his mother, coil builds the clay vessel.  Jamie paints the design.  He has strong attention to the detail of the painting as well as his inspiration from classic Zuni pottery.  This large jar has a high round shoulder and a sloping neck.  The neck is tightly painted with a bird wing design. Around the side of the jar are rainbirds with linear rain designs.  Near the base are tadpoles. The shape of the jar is made in the style of historic Zuni ollas.  This piece has a complicated painted design that is visually striking.  Note how well Jamie paints to match design and form.  It is signed,  “J.  Peyentsa Avelia Peyentsa”.
