Polacca Nampeyo, Clinton – Jar with Eagle Tail Design (1990s)

6"w x 6"h

$ 400.00

Clinton Polacca Nampeyo was a grandson of Fannie Nampeyo, who taught him to make traditional Hopi-Tewa pottery.  The jar is coil-built and painted before it was fired.  The jar has a round shoulder and a short neck.  The piece is painted with the classic eagle tail design. There are four eagle tails extending down over the shoulder. The neck of the jar has a stippled appearance.  The lines are delicately painted with bee-weed (black). There is an additional red clay slip to accentuate the designs.  It is signed on the bottom, “Clinton Polacca Nampeyo”. It is in very good condition with no chips, cracks, restoration, or repair.
