Qoyawayma, Al – 12″ Wide Jar with Three Corn Design (1976)

12"w x 5"h

$ 6,700.00

This jar by Al Qoyawayma is made from 1984.  It is one of his classic early pieces with each of the ears of corn pushed out in the clay from the inside. This is very much in the style of his aunt, Elizabeth White.  The jar itself is vertically polished and the corn areas are matte.  They are wonderfully textured and there is a perfect symmetry of the four ears on the jar. The contrast of the matte and polished surfaces works to enhance the design and form.  It is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, restoration or repair.  It is signed on the bottom in the clay.
