Red Starr (Sioux) was married to Santa Clara potter Harriet Tafoya and learned to make Santa Clara pottery. This black bowl is fully polished. There is a flower etched on one side and a Mountain Goat on the other. There is a single inset piece of turquoise for the center of the flower. Separating them are lightly etched feathers. It is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, restoration, or repair. It is signed on the bottom in the clay, “Red Starr”.
